So I was sitting down to write this piece about how our gut is linked with our overall well-being and it could be a key factor in our overall wellbeing. After reading so much research on the matter, I came up with many thoughts that have now become my main focus. Nowadays it’s quite common for people to think about their overall gut health to find a sense of peace in their own minds. It has been scientifically proven that gut health can positively influence your overall well-being, so you have probably already seen the effects. Well, let me share some more on what I believe it could do to your overall health:
Our body needs our gut for multiple purposes. This includes absorbing nutrients from the food we eat, processing and cleaning waste products produced by our own metabolism, and preparing and producing digestive enzymes needed to digest raw nutrients. Our brain is also dependent on our gut; without healthy bacteria in your stomach, brain cells could stop working properly and would not be able to function. These two processes have some interconnection, but let’s discuss them one at a time.
In addition to these three functions, our intestinal tract is constantly producing gas to help expel waste products (that are harmful to your digestive system), which helps remove toxins accumulated in us over time. Thus, a stable gut environment facilitates the absorption and elimination of toxic substances in the stool. A healthy microbiome is essential for digestion; it produces enzymes that break down food in the intestines, preventing bacterial growth and damaging its contents. When your digestive flora is healthy, your gut is clear of bad bacteria and toxic elements. That means a more peaceful state of mind.
Another major connection there with the gut-brain connection is stress management. When our nerves are under attack, they can trigger negative thoughts and emotions which can negatively impact our overall well-being. On the other hand, the presence of good gut bacteria can increase levels of endorphins – natural chemicals that act to reduce feelings of anxiety or depression. In turn, those who have a healthy gut are less likely to suffer from stressful situations. They may even avoid excessive drinking and smoking.
The importance of dieting for gut health is another one. If a person doesn’t follow any special diets, they will have problems with digestive issues and can feel nauseated frequently, or worse, even get constipation due to the formation of gas in their rectum. Furthermore, a poor diet can cause diarrhea, bloating, diarrhea, acid reflux, and indigestion. Some of us may be suffering from a hormonal imbalance which can also trigger digestive disorders. Dieting can help resolve these complications. Also, if you don’t adhere to any specific foods, it would be beneficial to consider adding supplements that would support various bodily functions.
