Manchester United celebrate their first away win of the
season with a 1-0 win in Southampton in Saint Mary's Victory against the Saints
on Saturday afternoon means United have now won two games in a row after
traveling south after beating arch-rivals Liverpool for the first time of the
season.
The visitors came very close to getting the advantage in the
19th minute, Bruno Fernandes' blocked header landed in the path of Anthony
Elanga, whose shot was parried by Saints goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu.
The rebound then fell to Fernandes but his shot was blocked
again only to find Christian Eriksen in the box with the net open at his mercy
but his shot was also blocked by Bella-Kotchap. Ralph Hasenhüttl's men could
have taken the lead in the 30th minute when Bella-Kotchap had a chance from 6
yards out but saved his shot over the bar. United finally broke the deadlock in
the second half thanks to a wonderful goal from Bruno Fernandes. The goal,
which was the result of an excellent team effort, came when Diogo Dalot crossed
in the middle and Fernandes volleyed a beautiful shot into the bottom left
corner of the net to put United ahead. It's been a cautious affair between the
two sides since then, with Southampton pushing for an equaliser, but in the end,
it was a smile for Erik ten Hag and his Red Devils.
The traveling fans were able to see new signing Casemiro in
action as he made his debut for the Old Trafford club in the 80th minute,
replacing Elanga.
